31 Aug 2012, Liège, Belgium — Reportage in a snoezelen room in a residency that houses adult autists in Liège. Rémy, 40, moves around in this multi-sensory environment, which is both soothing and stimulating. He is accompanied by Chantal, a specialised snoezelen enabling practitioner. These snoezelen rooms allow autistic people to develop other means of communication, and to create a privileged relationship with the carer as well as stimulating the senses. This padded snoezelen room is entirely white and allows calm to return. It is equipped with a liquid oil disc lamp which helps relaxation and can even lead to a hypnotic state. — Image by © Amelie-Benoist/BSIP/Corbis
